Every season 3 teams are relegated from and promoted to the Premier League. In 2020/21 season Fulham, Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion left the EPL, and Watford, Norwich and Brentford entered the league. Out of the latter 3 teams, we are concentrating on Brentford because it’s the first time in 47 years they are welcomed in the top-flights after 9 unsuccessful attempts in the playoffs.
So who are they? The club was founded on October 10th 1889 and is based in West London. Their home ground has been Brentford community arena since 2020, before that they had played their home matches at Griffin Park from 1904. The Bees (which is their nickname) are currently coached by Thomas Frank.
This year, as I mentioned before, Brentford finally got promoted to the highest English division. Personally I believe that they were ready for the Premier League last year, but unfortunately, Fulham defeated them in the semis of the Championship playoffs. The tables turned in the 2020/21 season, and you can still catch the fans’ celebrations all around West London, after the victory over Swansea at the Championship final 2-0. Ivan Toney and Emiliano Marcondes were the heroes of the day, having brought the long-desired promotion.
Brentford finished 3rd in the table with 87 points. Their best player Ivan Toney showed great performance having scored 33 goals. He definitely will be on the radars of big clubs, and the Bees headquarters have to do everything to keep this talented player. Now, most people hope that Brentford will linger in the Premier League for a long time because they have a good, put-together team. And I am sure that their chances are high.
Brentford FC have big expectations to meet for next season. There is no doubt that every football fan will follow them. All in all, it’s going to be a very interesting season. I can’t wait for it to start.
