The 2020/21 season turned out to be the last one for the now-ex Bayern manager Hans-Dieter Flick, who’s been invited to lead Germany’s national team after the Euro. With Bayern he won Bundesliga in 2020 and 2021, Champions League in 2020, Super Cup 2020, and Club World Cup 2020. Julian Nagelsmann will be his replacement starting from next season.
Hans-Dieter was first spotted in the Germany’s national team management as an assistant to Joachim Low in the 2010 World Cup when Germany finished 3rd, and in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. While working with Bayern Munich, he won everything a good coach can hope for. His greatest win ever was 8-2 against Barcelona in the Champions League.
Some of the Bayern players started exceeding expectations again. Thomas Muller got his second youth under Flick’s management. Since Hansi came, Muller played almost every game and scored a lot of goals for his age. Also, Flick made Robert Lewandowski the goal scorer machine, giving him one of the best seasons in Bayern so far. The Polish striker had 41 goals in 29 matches and that is without his injury in mid season.
Bayern finished the 2020/21 season in first place with 78 points, 23 points clear of RB Leipzig. They had 26 wins, 6 draws and 4 loses. Bayerns biggest win in the Bundesliga was against Borussia Mönchengladbach 6-0. In the Champions League they beat RB Salzburg 6-2. The 2019/20 Champions league season was quite outstanding too: they finished without a single defeat.
So it is obvious that Hansi Flick deserves all the appreciation at Bayern. And now we can wish him all the best in the national team.
