An esports scandal happened a week ago. There is a team Akuma in the CS:GO (Counter Strike Global Offensive) tournament EPIC League CIS. They finished 3rd in the competition, managing to beat top 2 and top 3 CIS teams such as Natus Vincere and Virtus Pro on their way to the semis surprisingly easily. The NAVI coach ccommented that “they are cheating 400% because Akuma’s movement in the game is very strange”. With that said, almost more than half of all the viewers and players from other teams suspected them of using illegal bugs or even cheats. Players of Akuma denied any accusations against them.
Most likely it seems that there was a bug on the radar: the players could see opponents when they picked up the bomb. However, one cannot be 100% certain yet. There are a lot of things that need to be considered and checked. The organisers of the tournament are solving the problem at the moment. SENSEI, the player from Akuma, said in one of his interviews: “The organisers asked us to stop playing and show our tables through the webcam and what was behind the computers”.
After that suspicious 2 wins, they finally lost all their remaining games without putting up a fight, which seems very strange. Also, if the situation with a map bug is true, the tournament organisers will need to answer a lot of questions, as this problem appeared a year ago. The only thing fans and players can do now is to wait for the decision.
